VA NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY | Baby Clive

I knew I had to photograph this little guy just by hearing his name. Baby Clive.  As some of you may know, my favorite actor of all time is Clive Owen!  YUMMY!  I have a soft spot for British accents.  But SERIOUSLY . . .  Newborn babies.  Who can ever resist them?  His mommy confessed that she can’t resist giving him million kisses when he’s sleeping.  Luckily, I know the feeling.

Hello World!

After setting up previous pose, this is what I looked up to.  Hilare!!!!
iPhone camera in action!

MD CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHY | Nori

Nori is one of my newborns from last year.  You can see her newborn session HERE.  And another one who’s all grown up.

Nori lives in a fabulous neighborhood with beautiful homes, lots of picket fences, lake park and even an mansion for private events!  Its pleasantville!!  Every corner was picture perfect.

Here’s Nori . . . all grown up!

1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY | BRAM

Bram’s mom contacted me 2 weeks prior to his birthday party. (BTW, how cool is that name?) Due to unfortunate circumstances, she had to start planning Bram’s party decorations from scratch . . . that left her 14 days to plan his party!

But 14 days was all this mama needed. I’ve attended MANY dols in the past but this was one of the best decorated dols. She kept it traditional yet simple and it really worked! And I couldn’t step away from the candy bar!! You know she has good taste when you see Georgetown cupcakes being served.

Who needs to JD degree when you can plan a party like this in 14 days?:)

Doljabi Poster by the talented folks over at Dohl Posters and More.

I wasn’t the only adult who couldn’t stay away from the candy bar!

Power of newborns . . . no one can resist them! Not even the waiting staff at the restaurant!

FIRST YEAR PORTRAITS | BABY ELLA

A year has already gone by since I photographed Ella’s newborn session and she’s going to celebrate her 1st birthday! I’ve been fortunate to photograph this family every year since Mason’s first birthday party 3 years ago. He’s all grown up and now its his sister’s turn to party it up in couple of weeks. But first, Ella’s portrait session. Enjoy!

MD BABY PHOTOGRAPHY | ALEX

This little man had me in smiles the entire session. His parents really wanted to showcase his beautiful hanbok that his grandmother brought back from Korea for his first birthday (dol). But they also brought his suit and that outfit totally won me over.

STUDIO BABY PORTRAIT SESSION | Baby Jonah

Jennifer Kim Photography is moving!

Actually, I’ve already moved into a studio space in Springfield, VA just 10 minutes outside Washington, DC. We’re trying to tie up all the loose ends (and there seems to be a lot of it!) but I wanted to announce scheduling of studio sessions. Please email info@jenniferkimphotography.com for more information.

Meanwhile, I had to test out my new lighting system as well as these fun backdrops by Drop it MODERN. I had the perfect model too. Here’s baby Jonah celebrating his 100th day.

BABY’S 1ST YEAR PHOTOGRAPHY | Baby Allison @ 9 months

The weather has been record breaking . . . someone please crank up the AC!! To avoid the heat much as possible, I met Allison early in the morning for her session. It was still HOT & HUMID but Allison was all smiles. <3 her!

DC CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHY | Hudson

This little cutie pie is one tough baby. He’s so tough, he rather go barefoot than wear his shoes.;)

Hudson will be celebrating his first birthday during the 4th of July weekend. It will be BLAST of a party. Ok, that was really cheesy but I couldn’t help it.

MD Newborn Photography | Baby Cassie

Details, details, details . . . Its all in the details. Three months have passed already since I’ve joined mommyhood. Its been the fastest 3 months even though it feels like Jonah has been in my life forever. He’s changed so much and its changed my perspective for newborn photography.

For baby Cassie’s session, I wanted to capture lots and lots and lots and lots of details from head to toe. I’m sure she’s changed so much since the photo session.

VA CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHY | Mattie

Preparation is one of the most important factors to having a successful portrait session. I plan the session weeks in advance, choosing the location & time, and hoping mother nature would let’s us do our thang! But sometimes spontaneity comes into the mix and throws me in for a loop. Like the time when I met Mattie. As I approached the area where we were supposed to have the session, a big banner on the streets read “VIVA VIENNA FESTIVAL”. I’ve never seen Vienna filled with so many people. So after a quick consult with Mattie’s parents, we relocated to a near by place in Tyson’s corner, VA. And being spontaneous was actually a lot of fun!

Here’s my time with Mattie.
